Talk of health today, or of anything really, is mostly about the COVID-19 epidemic that has taken us all to a rather unknown place in life. We are so concerned with what we do not know about this illness. It is perfectly understandable that we don't have much more of a reaction than fear, since nobody really knows what the virus is capable of. This is all new to everyone, including the things we are having to do for it. Sure there have been a few other global outbreaks of illnesses that put us on the alert, like SARS, H1N1, and Ebola, in no particular order. However, this time it appears we are much more at risk of exposure due to the time it can take for someone to even suspect they could have COVID-19. Everywhere you turn there is a story about how to protect yourself from getting it. Some advice is sound and effective, while some is just over zealous behavior. Especially with the hoarding and over buying of some, rather insignificant items. This is mostly due to being unprepared, and not getting proper guidance from the git go. At a time like this though, pointing fingers is not at all a wise use of ones time and energy. Instead energy can be spent on helping by providing good information, and promoting better awareness. So, I have decided that since I have been thinking about starting a blog for some time, now is a great time to make good on those intentions.
Modern day issues like what we are going through now, in my opinion, are best addressed with modern thinking and actions. A broad and ambiguous statement, I know, but I will elaborate. The more conventional thinking and medications prove to fail or harm patients, the more we must consider a new approach to "healthcare." I use that term in quotation marks because of how it doesn't seem to truly be what a patient receives in a conventional model. The irony too that when I say we need a new approach, I am really talking about going back to more primitive ways of doing things. For example, that we can help keep ourselves protected from exposure to a community spread illness by keeping away from crowds and taking precautions with our supplementation. Also, to use food and earthly things like herbs and spices to help boost our immune system and fortify our bodies for strength and vitality. Long before modern medicine came to be the mainstream for treating sick patients, chemicals did not exist as a way of curing or chasing away an illness. It was always plants that made the medicines that people used to feel better, and that is still true today. All chemical medications are in some way based with plant derived ingredients. I digress though, and will get back to the main discussion here, which is a new approach to health. I believe that we can achieve a much greater confidence in our ability to resist or fight a viral or bacterial or other type of infection, by strengthening our immune system. As we navigate this current epidemic, it is crucial for us to get stronger in our ability to defend ourselves. I will not repeat what is all over the net and media about how to wash hands, keep distances, etc. I will instead remind everyone to be kind and thoughtful of others with your decisions. Also, find ways to strengthen your God given shield. Tune in tomorrow when I will discuss great ways to do just that.
